Join Fr. Boniface Hicks, O.S.B., Delegate for the League of Prayer U.S.A. and Canada, as he leads a silent weekend retreat on Friday, October 19 through Sunday, October 21, 2018, entitled, "The Universal Call to Holiness: Learning from Blessed Karl of Austria." Held on the quiet and lush grounds of Saint Emma Benedictine Monastery, Greensburg, PA, Fr. Boniface will help retreatants discover the call to holiness all men and women are called to, aided by the powerful example of Blessed Karl of Austria.
Karl ascended the throne as the last emperor of Austria-Hungrary during the tumult of the first world war in 1916. He saw his office as a commission from God and duty to follow and imitate Christ, the one true King. While he died in exile just six years later at the age of 35, Karl led a heroic and saintly life, praying at his death, “Thy Holy Will be done. Jesus, Jesus, come! Yes—yes. My Jesus as Thou willst it—Jesus.”
